What is this?
More details
Northwoods Hockey Club is built to provide direction, development, and results in a fun, structured hockey environment for Mite (8U) and Squirt (10U) players. This will all be played out of Elk River.
Our program offers families a consistent hockey schedule, meaningful practices, and exciting games, all led by an experienced lead instructor who is committed to helping players grow their game.
Preparing Players for the Next Step
One thing that makes our program unique is our focus on preparing players for full-ice hockey.
Many Mite players spend most of their season playing cross-ice, but association evaluations and scrimmages include full-ice games. Our program will introduce basic positional play and give Mites the chance to experience full-ice games before Mite evaluations.
We also know there are many first-year Squirts who have never played a full-ice game before. Our goal is to give those players the confidence and experience they need before their first Squirt tryout or season.
Goalies – This Is an Amazing Opportunity
Goalies will receive up to TWO HOURS of ice time on practice days.
They’ll practice with their team and receive on-ice mentoring from an experienced goalie mentor — at no additional cost, including practice goalies.
Who Is the Program For?
Mite (8U) & Squirt (10U) players
Mite full-time players should typically be C-level
D-level Mites are welcome as practice players and will participate in all practices and receive the same instruction (practice players do not play in games)
Registration Is OPEN
Spots are limited, and we will only take a small number of practice players and practice goalies.
Player evaluations will help ensure teams are balanced across four teams and that players can keep up with the pace of play.
We especially encourage bubble players to sign up. Our goal is to help players gain the confidence and development they need heading into association tryouts.
We want to work alongside local hockey associations and provide players another opportunity for high-quality instruction and continued development.
